Is working in healthcare a job or a career?

A job and a career: these words are used interchangeably within the recruitment industry. However, they are NOT synonyms of each other. A job is what you do from Monday to Friday. A career is much more than that. It’s a professional path with a social impact.

Because to get a job at Blink you have to move to the Netherlands, we always offer you a new career (and never just a job). Not a temporary adventure, but a completely new chapter. In this blog we would like to tell you how we can boost your career in the Netherlands in both the short and long term:

  1. No career without a job.

With a career of course comes a job. At Blink you start within the elderly care, but you can progress to many other care settings such as hospitals, hospices and home care. We always offer you a 12-month contract, followed by a permanent contract.

We also provide a more than correct salary. The starting salary is between €2,200 and €2,938 gross per month (based on a 36-hour workweek). This salary can further grow to €2,864 – €3,471. In addition, there are also some nice financial perks, such as:

  • a holiday allowance of 8% of your yearly salary
  • an and-of-year bonus of 8,33% of your yearly salary
  • 25 days of annual paid leave
  • a compensation of 160% of your salary for overtime (applies to all hours over 36 per week)

  1. A good integration begins with learning the language.

We don’t expect our Blinkers to be able to speak perfect Dutch right away. However, in order to live and work in the Netherlands, it is useful to master the language. Therefore we have set up a partnership with a training center in Javea (Spain). During a 3 month program you can learn Dutch there and get your B1 certificate. We finance the course for you, as well as your stay in Javea.

  1. Our coach Beppie, your helping hand.

We want you to reach your maximum potential. Alone you may already come a long way, but together we can get just that little bit further. That’s why our coach Beppie is always available for personal and professional coaching. She listens to your needs and answers all your questions so that together you can map out your perfect career path within Dutch healthcare.

  1. Small extras that make a big difference.

A job? Check! A language course? Check! A coach? Check! But that’s not all, because at Blink we arrange all kinds of other practical and administrative matters for you, including:

  • help with your registration as a healthcare professional in the Netherlands
  • housing
  • a flight to the Netherlands and pick-up at the airport (paid for by us)
  • daily fresh fruit at work

If there is one thing we want you to remember from this article, it’s  that we will take care of you just as well as you take care of your patients by offering you a career and not just a job. Together, we’ll make it a great adventure!
